Ego

The word Ego is way more confusing and is not easy to decipher. One can claim it is our greatest strength and our greatest weakness as well. The history of the word comes from Latin where it stands for "I", so if one says I am a humble person it would translate to " Ego humilem hominem".

The point here is to reveal the fact that any person who has surrounded himself with the words like I, Me or Myself is more connected to the ego than others.

Ego is the idea or opinion you have about yourself. A person must be skilful enough to access his true personality, in general, in order to have a better understanding of himself. This surely helps with the positive growth of oneself. As far as the ego is concerned, I believe it is one of the main ingredients for building confidence. It also keeps you focused, up to the most extend.

Let me explain this,

People sometimes think more of themselves and take up the challenges which they, at first, think they can perform easily but loses interest in it once they realize the task is difficult but when the same task is being asked to perform in front of their rivals or say their close friends the ego in them never allows them to give up that easily and keeps them focused towards their goal. It can help you stay resilient when things go wrong.

Though ego can be treated as a friend it can also become your enemy very easily. Overconfidence kills you faster than a bullet and the same goes with the ego. An enormous ego is personality fatal. Words like Egoistic, Egoism, Egocentrism, Egoistically etc gets stuck with you.

You may look good physically or may have great communication skill or may possess some great talent but if you are a person who only thinks highly of himself or underestimate others, you are more prone to lose the relationship. In this scenario, It keeps you out of touch with reality. Your ego is what prevents you from hearing critical but necessary feedback from others. It keeps you away from improving yourself and to achieve goals. Ego makes you believe you deserve some outcome but when you don`t receive it you feel disheartened.

In order to manage your own ego, focus on making other people successful, focus on their problems, try not to react abruptly. It`s no longer about you, it`s about what you can do to help others. As earlier stated you need to have a skill of self-observation, it's only then, you can become friends with ego.
