Corruption in Education

Let me make this very clear in the beginning, this article is not about any kind of fraudulent conduct, illegal behaviour or dishonesty of any person or anything relating to bribery of any official for that matter. This article highlights the corruption showcased by the students towards their education.

If we dig a little deeper, we will find students nowadays are using shortcuts to acquire their knowledge, shortcuts that can be damaging. Students are falling prey to the agencies that have made their business to earn from the shortcut methods. Sure short questions, notes papers, solved question banks, guides for subject etc are some of the many examples that are in the market for students to choose from. 

A new entry of online education has also registered itself in this race, students now have the luxury to google any topic and find thousands of results in seconds. The task of reading from vide varied books, to consult the teachers or mentors or seniors to clear the concept of a topic are the things of the past. Though I am not against online reading, I am only advocating that this should not be available to all. There should be age criteria or some sort of filter that prevents the students to choose these shortcuts. we have also seen students from primary classes have started accessing the internet for the completion of their assignments, this can diminish the overall dedication level among students. A drastic change in the process of learning can be seen. The conventional ways of learning, or educating ourselves through books can only be seen in bits and parts.  In today's time where everything is going at a fast pace, the Education sector has also gained its momentum from delivering a lecture in a limited time frame to the declaration of results. The hasty process is wreaking havoc and to cope up with the situation, the students are also finding alternatives that help themselves to achieve well grades. It is this marathon of scoring higher grades that also compels the students to start cheating on themselves.

Being corrupt means you are not conducting yourself honestly that you are not staying true to yourself. To accumulate the wealth of knowledge, one should remain true to the art of learning and to corrupt this art would be a heinous crime. Education is stated as an enlightening experience, an experience that can change the course of lives. It propers us towards the direction of betterment, it not only opens new gateways for us but for our society as well. Education is about years of continuous dedication and nurturing the process. These shortcuts can only create loopholes in such processes.
