Faith

Faith, only by hearing this word our deep-buried smiles run to faces. This word is thrown around us all the time. On average we use this word about 3-4 times in a day consciously or sub-consciously. The expression "Just have faith, it will work out" is used by many people to encourage and comfort someone facing serious problems. The impact of this word may not last long in our minds, but it sure helps us to get through the stressful situation courageously. Some words are like our true friends, they are only around when you need them and "Faith" is surely among those words.

Faith is complete trust or confidence in something. It is a mental thought, an underlying emotion of sheer human determination to make the best of a hard situation. It`s a driving force that leads a person to act, to work, to obey. To live in this world you need to have faith. Simple things like when you board an aeroplane because you have faith in the pilot, or when you decide to admit your child to a school you show faith in the teacher and so many other things need your undivided faith. We now live a precarious existence-although our intentions may be good but the results are not always reliable. The Faith quotient sometimes helps us fight through our helplessness.

Faith and belief are often used in the same context, sometimes interchangeably, but they are not quite the same thing. Belief is a strongly held opinion about an idea. Beliefs are also opinions that you form about what you read, hear or see. Beliefs can change over time, as you grow and learn new things. Faith can take on doubts and questions, but it remains intact. We can only grow our faith by immersing ourselves in truth. It can only come from new hearts. Faith is all about believing. Believing in light when there is only darkness. Believing in good when all you see is chaos. Faith is a gift to all of us and should be nurtured.
